Cook County State Attorney Kim Foxx Doubles Down On Smollett Decision, Accuses Critics Of Racism

Facing protests and calls for resignation, Kim Foxx reaffirmed her controversial decision.

  •  Cook County State Attorney Kim Foxx gave a press conference Sunday afternoon, defending her decision to decline prosecution against actor Jussie Smollett.
  •  Foxx also used the opportunity of the publicized press conference to accuse her critics of racism and “changing the goal posts” due to her status as an African-American woman.
  •  On Saturday, Cook County community activist Ja’Mal Green described white police chiefs in Suburban areas of Chicago calling for Foxx’s resignation the “Blue Klux Klan.”

Foxx also stated she has no plans to resign and intends to finish her term as Cook County State Attorney. Cook County and Illinois residents remain deeply divided over Foxx’s handling of the Jussie Smollett case.

Regarding criticism over her decision, Foxx suggested her detractors were colluding with racists and white supremacists.
